Pazada Salukis & Afghan Hounds

Both Gary and I have been involved with dogs since childhood. My parents bred/showed Pembroke Corgis during the period mid 1960 - early 1970's, and Gary's parents owned Samoyeds. In the late 1970's - mid 1980's my sister and her husband exhibited the successful Afghan Hound, NZ Ch. Chakdarra Candy Man.

I obtained my first show Afghan in 1979 - NZ Ch. Balahassie of Tashara (Saringa's Fangio (UK) x Maimana Ao Matua) and registered the Pazada prefix in 1981 at the time of my first litter.

When Gary and I married in 1989 I gained a son and he, my dogs - a ready made family! Later that year we imported into New Zealand a cream/apricot Afghan dog, multi Specialty BIS/RBIS and All Breeds BIS winner NZ/Aust Ch. Gengala Double Agent - "Wilbur" (many thanks to Jim, Mary and Louise Hickie). Wilbur's qualities were recognised by breed specialists from around the world.

We relocated to Australia in 1993 with 3 Afghans and 1 Standard Poodle and lived in the Hunter Region until our move to Sydney in 2001.

Although we do not breed often, we have bred 10 Afghan Hound Champions (NZ, Aust, Japan) including two Specialty BIS/RBIS winners.

In partnership with Gengala Afghans I have also shown a number of Afghan Hounds to their titles in Australia.

In late 2004 at a major show in Sydney I was very impressed with a young gold Saluki dog in the Puppy class and in January 2005 "Twix" Ch. Baghdad Sunsation joined our household, followed shortly after by the bitch Ch. Baghdad Quirk O Fate. Both gained their Australian titles easily and Twix has been a consistent Group and In Show winner. Late January 2007 saw the arrival of our very successful first Saluki litter which produced 2 Multi BIS Australian Grand Champions. Our second litter produced 3 Champions who are BIS/RBIS/Group Winners.

I have been licensed to judge the Afghan Hounds since 1996 and am licenced to judge the Hound Group and Non Sporting Group, and in 2010 am undertaking the Toy Group.

Other breed involvement includes Standard Poodle and Standard Wirehair Dachshunds and in the past I have also been active in dog obedience.

Our other main interest is motor racing.
